Beyond the Bestsellers: Underused Plants That Deserve A Spot
with Kerry Pieritz of Bailey Nurseries

Great gardens aren’t built from trends alone—they’re built from plants that truly belong. This seminar shines a light on 12 underutilized perennials and shrubs that bring depth, resilience, and quiet beauty to Midwest landscapes, yet are often overlooked in favor of familiar standbys. You’ll learn why these overlooked plants succeed, where they fit best in real garden situations, and how to confidently incorporate them into existing landscapes. If you’re ready to move beyond the familiar and discover plants that bring durability, diversity, and long-term value to the garden, this session will give you fresh ideas you can put to use right away.

Deer Resistant Shrubs for Midwest Landscapes
with Sandy Harmon from Spring Meadow Nursery

Deer pressure is a reality for many Midwest gardeners—but it doesn’t have to dictate every planting decision. This seminar focuses on shrubs that deer consistently avoid, helping you design landscapes that hold their shape, structure, and beauty even in high-traffic areas. While no plant is completely deer-proof, the right choices can dramatically improve success. If you’re tired of replacing plants and ready for a more resilient approach, this session will give you practical guidance you can trust.

Annual Flowers Solutions: Long Bloom, Pollinator Power, & Shade Success
with Jessica DeGraaf from Proven Winners

Annual flowers can do far more than simply fill space—when chosen thoughtfully, they solve some of the most common garden challenges. This seminar is divided into three focused mini-sessions, each addressing a key need: long-blooming annuals for season-long color, annuals that attract pollinators, and reliable choices for shady conditions. You’ll gain practical guidance on selecting the right annuals for each situation, helping you create garden spaces that perform better with less trial and error. Whether you’re planting containers, beds, or mixed landscapes, this session will equip you with clear strategies for making confident, purposeful annual flower choices.
